CW Street Team Ambassador

WNNE-The Valley CW, a Hearst Television affiliate associated with NBC5, is looking for individuals to join our promotional street team.  If you are outgoing, energetic, extremely reliable and have an excellent work ethic, we are looking for you! This part-time position puts you in the middle of the action at some of the year’s biggest events.  You will be a complete marketing ambassador for The Valley CW.  You’ll represent The Valley CW onsite at events and you will have the chance to be featured on-air.  It’s an opportunity that’s fun, flexible and gives you great experience! On-air hosting skills a huge plus! Must be at least 18 years old, able to lift up to 50 lbs., have a clean driving record and able to work a flexible part-time schedule, including weekends. Valid US passport or enhanced driver’s license a plus, since some of our events are in Montreal.

Job Responsibilities:   

  • Set up The Valley CW booth and interact with attendees at events
  • Take photos and videos at events
  • Post photos and videos online
  • Appear in The Valley CW on-air promos as needed

Account Executive

WPTZ/NBC5, the Hearst Television owned NBC affiliate in the Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY market, has an immediate opening for a Local Sales Account Executive. This position provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a local news leader in the market.  Great resources including Nielsen ratings, Marshall Marketing qualitative data, and the vast digital assets with Hearst Television provide significant opportunity for building innovative and effective marketing and sponsorship opportunities for both established and newly developed clients.  The position is based in our Plattsburgh, NY office, but there is a need to travel throughout the entire DMA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop and nurture positive business relationships in the community
  • Sell commercial time to local and/or regional advertisers and agencies. Includes on-air and digital media platforms.
  • Generate new revenue by developing new advertisers to our medium.
  • Manage and evolve a list of current valued clients
  • Responsible for ensuring commercials are complete and ready to air on schedule.
  • Responsible for orderly flow of all sales transactions, including overseeing pre-emptions and make-goods.
  • Prepare creative presentations using rating services and other resources.

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous media/advertising experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer applications (MS Office) and ability to learn proprietary software (Wide Orbit, Marshall Marketing, Kantar).
  • Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Newscast Producer

WPTZ NBC5, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY market has an opening for a Newscast Producer  in our brand new, state-of-the-art facility. We’re looking for a story teller who thrives on breaking news, and the urgency of a fast-paced, dynamic newscast. Our next producer will join a team of award-winning journalists committed to dynamic local news coverage. We want a producer who demonstrates solid news judgement, and who has an eye for using video, graphics, and studio features to effectively convey information.   We approach everything as a team at WPTZ. We expect you to come in with an open mind, ready to learn and ready to lend a hand to other members of the team when needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Selecting, and writing material for a daily newscast.
  • Building graphics and shaping how a story is presented for a live newscast.
  • Working with reporters and helping them shape their daily reports.
  • Possess an ability to communicate clearly and quickly to effectively give direction, and to explain your vision of a newscast to anchors, reporters, and directors.
  • Selecting, researching and writing content for live newscasts to make the newscast an “experience” for viewers
  • Communicating, coordinating and executing creative vision with team of anchors, reporters, meteorologists, photographers, editors, and production staff.
  • Our producers are required to edit video and contribute to our digital platforms.

Experience Requirements:

  • Creative presentation style.
  • Experience in a newsroom, the ability to remain calm under pressure and knowledge of ENPS are pluses.
  • Military experience in a related occupation specialty will be considered.
