Join a committee or become a board member!
Vermont Association of Broadcasters is evaluating, experimenting and evolving so we can be the first and best resource for our members! Have your ideas heard and be part of the reinvention by joining one of our newly formed committees (descriptions below) or serving as a board member!
MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE
Whether you want to help pick training topics or help with events like the Annual Convention or Hall of Fame awards banquet, this committee will review all current member benefits, discuss improvements and brainstorm new ideas. Average time commitment estimated at one 30 minute ZOOM call per month or as needed. First meeting via ZOOM is Tuesday, April 16th at 10:30AM, but you can still join even if you can’t make the first ZOOM meeting. To join, email vab with subject line “Membership”.
NOMINATION COMMITTEE
This committee will recommend a new board member to be voted in as Secretary at Annual Meeting. This committee will also restructure the entry, criteria and judging process for Production of the Year awards as well as the nomination, criteria and selection process for the Hall of Fame and other service awards. Average time commitment estimated at one 30 minute ZOOM call per month or as needed. First meeting via ZOOM is Monday, April 15th at 10:30AM, but you can still join even if you can’t make the first ZOOM meeting. To join, email vab with subject line “Nomination”.
FINANCE COMMITTEE
If you like numbers and want a say in how the VAB spends money, join the Finance Committee! Chaired by the board Treasurer, this committee handles the budget and meets only as needed via a 30 minute ZOOM call. To join the Finance Committee, email vab with subject line “Finance”.
LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE
Advocacy for broadcasters in state and federal Government is a crucial way we protect the best interests of our members. If you want to join the fight against issues such as Performance Tax, Ownership caps or tight advertising restrictions during Children’s Programming, join the Legislative Committee! Average time commitment estimated at one 30 minute ZOOM call per month or as needed. To join, email vab with subject line “Legislative”.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A 2-year term as Secretary will be available June 4, 2019. Position requires note-taking at board meetings (i.e. date, time, attendance, motions, seconds, vote results). It also requires annual documents to be filed with Vermont’s Secretary of State and any other official record keeping. On average, VAB’s board of directors meets once a month for three hours in Berlin, VT although that may change to accommodate schedules. If you want to be considered for this position, email vab with subject line “Board” by 4/11/19.
We can make it, we can buy it, but can we promote it?
