Anchor Reporter

WPTZ/NBC5 is looking for a high-energy weekend morning anchor/reporter who knows how to tell visual stories and can do active, engaging live shots. You’ll be working in our brand new, state of the art newsroom and studio. In addition to credibility, poise, and personality; our next anchor will tell compelling stories, and execute energetic live shots. Our anchors are newsroom leaders who help mentor and grow producers and reporters. They write and edit scripts with conversational communication in mind. We are looking for a versatile, enterprising self-starter who is fast, efficient, works well under tight deadlines, can develop sources, and has excellent live anchoring skills.

Job Responsibilities:    

  • Anchor weekend evening newscasts
  • Report live from the field during the week
  • Have an active presence on social media that engages the audience in a conversation
  • Delivers scripted and ad lib material with professionalism, personality, and purpose
  • An ability to summarize information into easy-to-understand components
  • Unwavering journalistic integrity and ethical standards
  • Appears on behalf of the station at public events in NY, VT and NH

Experience Requirements:

  • Past anchor experience preferred
  • Past reporter experience required
  • Demonstrated ability to enterprise and uncover
  • Your demo reel should be indicative of your everyday work

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Proven anchor with ability to connect with viewers
  • Ability to work varied shifts, including overnights and weekends
  • Can deal with the stresses and pressures of time-sensitive newscast production
  • Demonstrated ability with digital media and social media

Education:      

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent proven work experience
  • Military experience and training will be considered

WNNE/The Valley CW, the Hearst Television owned CW Network affiliate in the scenic Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY market, has an immediate opening for a Local Sales Account Executive. This position provides an excellent opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing television station in the market delivering entertainment and news content to the region.  Great resources including Nielsen ratings, Marshall Marketing qualitative data, and the vast digital assets with Hearst Television provide significant opportunity for building innovative and effective marketing and sponsorship opportunities for both established and newly developed clients.  The position is based primarily in our new state-of-the-art facility in South Burlington, VT.  There will also be a need to travel throughout the entire DMA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create, develop and nurture positive business relationships in the community
  • Sell commercial time to local and/or regional advertisers and agencies. Includes on-air and digital media platforms.
  • Generate new revenue by developing new advertisers to our medium.
  • Manage and evolve a list of current valued clients
  • Responsible for ensuring commercials are complete and ready to air on schedule.
  • Responsible for orderly flow of all sales transactions, including overseeing pre-emptions and make-goods.
  • Prepare creative presentations using rating services and other resources.

Experience Requirements:

Sales Account Associate- Entry Level

WPTZ/NBC5, a Hearst Television station in the Burlington/Plattsburgh market is looking for a Sales Account Associate. As a Sales Account Associate, you will work with the sales team on processing and advertising contracts, obtaining creative materials, generating support materials for sales teams, and coordinating the scheduling and launch of advertising campaigns. This individual will work closely with the advertising sales team to ensure effective placement of sales activity. The Entry Level – Sales Associate position is a training sales program that will develop Sales Account Associates into Sales Account Executives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist the development of sales proposals, advertising packages, and client presentations.
  • Create supportive marketing materials for the sales department.
  • Prepare proposals based on account executive requests.
  • Effectively communicate with internal teams (including: sales, production, finance) and external clients on performance and delivery of campaigns.
  • Entering and maintaining all orders including electronic transfer and maintenance of all MediaLine/WOCentral orders to WideOrbit.

Master Control Supervisor

WPTZ-TV, a Hearst Television station, has an immediate opening for a Master Control Supervisor. We are looking for the right person who is a self-motivated, detail oriented, organized, team player.   This person will supervise a team of Master Control Operators who are responsible for controlling the equipment providing content for our television program streams that are watched on cable, satellite and over the air.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain operations that keeps us in compliance with FCC rules and regulations
  • Schedule M/C Operators for 24×7 operations and fill in when needed
  • Ensure proper program and transmitter log documentation by the Master Control team
  • Train MCOs in the operation and future operations of Master Control
  • Review MCO’s in conjunction with Engineering management
  • Maintain a dialog with other departments to support their operations
  • Communicates problems with equipment to the Engineering team in a timely manner
  • Ensure acquisition of content from content providers
  • Will help to create and update operations documentations

Experience Requirements:

  • Must have computer and software experience.
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Prior experience in television station operations a plus.
  • Prior experience in Master Control operations a plus.
  • Related military experience will be considered.

Qualifications Requirements:
