Part Time Production Assistant

WPTZ/NBC5 has openings for two part time Production Assistants. We are looking for energetic team players who understand the flexible schedule that the broadcast industry requires to join our production crew. They will be responsible for operating cameras, teleprompter and video equipment; as related to live broadcasts and post-production.  Must have good technical skills, and good communication skills. Responsibilities include floor directing, assisting the news department, and other duties as assigned. This position is based in-person at our South Burlington, VT studio facility.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Operation of cameras, prompters, sets and other production equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment necessary.
  • Lighting and script preparation for newscasts.
  • Video cueing during newscasts.
  • Maintain professional appearance of studio/sets.
  • Assist the directors as needed.

Experience Requirements: 

  • Working knowledge of television newscast equipment and software required.
  • Videography experience helpful.
  • Related military experience a plus

Qualifications Requirements: 

  • Must have a good attitude, be willing to learn, and be a team player.
  • Must be able to problem solve quickly and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Understanding of Grass Valley Automation a plus.

Promotions Producer

WPTZ/NBC5 is looking for a highly creative Promotion Producer to create content on all media platforms and be engaged in community event marketing.

This person will write, produce and creatively execute on-air promos, execute station events, and other marketing projects as assigned.  If you can think outside the box and are motivated with a great attitude, this job could be ideal for you!

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Produce compelling on-air campaigns from start to finish that generate viewer interest to increase brand awareness and ratings for all multi-platforms.
  • Create, update and enhance station on-air image, entertainment promos, and graphics- this includes daily program episodes for air.
  • Produce and execute community outreach events, including on-air promotion, social media, and other marketing needs.
  • Contribution to brainstorms across all departments

Experience Requirements: 

  • Television writer/Producer experience preferred.
  • Experience with Adobe applications such as After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop preferred.
  • Related military experience is a plus

Newscast Producer

WPTZ NBC5, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Burlington, VT/Plattsburgh, NY market has an opening for a Newscast Producer. Our next producer will join a team of award-winning journalists committed to dynamic local news coverage. Job Responsibilities:

  • Selecting, and writing material for a daily newscast.

Master Control Operator

WPTZ/NBC5 seeks a self-motivated, detail oriented, organized multi-tasking individual for our Master Control team. This person is responsible for the equipment that provides the content of our broadcast on-air program streams. You will be responsible for monitoring multiple air channels, acquiring, ingesting and preparing content, executing playlists, maintaining regulatory compliance, assuring quality control of on-air product, and documenting transmission events. This position involves ingesting commercials and programs, timing them and making sure they all play on air properly.

Newscast Director
