Media Specialist

Vermont PBS is seeking a Media Specialist to be a part of the team that brings our amazing educational, news, and entertainment programs to our viewers. You will be responsible for on-air program execution. We’re looking for someone comfortable with technology, willing to learn new things, and eager to work with the teams who create broadcast VT PBS. The ideal candidate should demonstrate the ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with co-workers and audience, supporting and enhancing a culture of belonging.

The successful candidate has:

  • One or more years related experience in television, radio, database management and/or production company.
  • Technical competency operating computers and communicating with others on-site and at remote locations.
  • Ability to manage digital files and adhere to file naming and storage protocols
  • Ability to learn to use specialized applications for specific tasks
  • Ability to adapt to change and stay calm under pressure.
  • Collaborative: Ready to pitch in to help others. Demonstrate skill in understanding cultural differences.
  • Independent, responsible, and exercises abundant good judgment, and strong interpersonal skills.

Host for All Things Considered 

VPR seeks a creative and enterprising journalist to become one of the leading voices in Vermont’s media landscape.

As our afternoon host, you’ll be front and center to the day’s developing news. You’ll provide updates and context to daily news and deliver it to listeners through newscasts, interviews, reported stories and digital and social posts. You’ll also guide our audience through breaking news and special coverage. As part of our news team, you’ll work with editors and reporters as well as our talk show, Vermont Edition, our daily news podcast, The Frequency and our people-powered podcast, Brave Little State.

VPR and Vermont PBS have come together to form a new organization and we’re seeking someone who is excited by new opportunities and can think beyond radio broadcasts. We’re looking for someone who steps forward when news happens, moves toward the story and finds ways to connect coverage with a broad and diverse audience.

Three years of journalism experience is preferred. Strong news judgment is required.

Annual salary range of $60,000-$75,000

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

VPR & Vermont PBS merged in July 2021 to become Vermont’s unified public media organization, serving the community with trusted journalism, quality entertainment, and rich educational programming that is accessible and inclusive to all.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the senior leadership team, providing executive level management of annual and long-term financial plans for VPR/Vermont PBS. The CFO will report to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) providing advice and counsel. The CFO also will work closely with the leadership team on business operations, strategic planning, and financial management.

The CFO is passionate about the mission, aligned with organizational values, and an individual who provides strategic and tactical leadership for VPR/Vermont PBS’s long term financial sustainability, with direct responsibilities to VPR/Vermont PBS’s board of trustees.

News Producer

VPR seeks a creative, enterprising and thoughtful journalist to produce our successful local news shows. We’re looking for someone who is excited about new ways to engage our audience on air, digitally and through live events.

A producer should have a passion for conversations that deepen Vermonters’ understanding of their communities and hold people and organizations accountable.  A producer must also bring a collaborative spirit and be equally adept at breaking news and creating sound rich field segments.

You must love the medium of public radio and talk shows, but you don’t need direct broadcast experience.  We’re looking for at least two years of journalism experience, more preferred.
