Broadcast Engineer – Transmitter
Vermont Public is seeking a Broadcast Engineer – Transmitter as part of our internal service group, helping us deliver awesome content to the region. Desired start date is late May 2023.
Who Should Apply?
At least 3 years of relevant experience in transmitter maintenance or related technical fields. Associate degree or comparable formal training in electrical or computer-related study, SBE (Society of Broadcast Engineers) certification, or licensed amateur radio operator desired but not required. Strong organizational, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills are required. The ability to work alone at isolated transmitter sites, as well as the ability to work with listeners, vendors, contractors, and regulators, is required. News Producer, Morning Edition
Vermont Public is seeking a full-time news producer for the morning shift. In this role, you are responsible for producing newscasts and interviews for broadcast on Morning Edition and our digital audience. The producer works with editors and the host of Morning Edition to develop morning coverage plans that are informative and dynamic.

Data Journalist
Vermont Public is seeking a Data Journalist to report and build data-based stories, visuals, and other products to create high-impact digital-first reporting in collaboration with editors, producers, and reporters inside the Vermont Public newsroom. The data journalist will pitch ideas for original stories and contribute data reporting and analysis for stories conceived by others. Through their work, the data journalist will bring to light previously inaccessible facts and stories in the public interest. The data journalist is part of a digital team and works collaboratively to create, adapt, and enhance all of our stories for digital spaces.
Who Should Apply?
Candidates should have experience working on data projects in a newsroom or experience doing statistical or data-scientific analysis, either in academia or in another research setting. Must have solid editorial judgment and the ability to write quickly and cleanly. Understanding of the tools of data analysis, such as SQL, R, D3, JavaScript, Python, and Microsoft Excel required, a degree in journalism or a quantitative field desired, as well as some familiarity with the state of Vermont. Digital Producer
Vermont Public is seeking a journalist to join our award-winning digital news team as a digital producer. This highly collaborative role requires strong news judgment and keen attention to detail. This role will work to repackage broadcast segments into an explainer web post or TikTok (or both); make photographs, infographics, collages, and other visuals; write and edit web, social media, and newsletter copy using AP style (plus come up with killer headlines); and teach colleagues how they, too, might incorporate these tools into their reporting. We’re looking for someone who loves working on digital platforms and feels at home in a daily news environment. Creativity, great communication, and love of deadlines are musts.

Event Producer
Vermont Public is seeking an Event Producer to develop and produce events in support of Vermont Public’s objectives and goals. The Event Producer is responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of public and private events on-site, around the region, and in virtual spaces.

Candidates should have at least two years of experience planning and producing events, with the ability to see the big picture while managing details, objectives and deadlines in all stages of event planning, design, and production. Canditates should have excellent interpersonal skills with a high level of diplomacy and professionalism with a demonstrable passion for public media, community building, and event management. Production Technician
The Production Technician is a support role to the video production process at all stages of content creation. The Production Technician works closely with managers, producers, videographers, and editors to help the team complete and deliver content on time and up to standard. Projects include, but are not limited to, broadcast programs, digital content, fundraising, and promotions. Requires familiarity with the most popular digital video formats as well as possessing an understanding of digital acquisition and delivery (web and other media). Experience with post-production/non-linear editing is required. A solid understanding of digital video camera use, proper handling, and technology is expected. A basic understanding of sound acquisition, lighting, and broadcast TV systems is desirable.
Who Should Apply?
College degree preferred as well as two or more years in television, cable, agency, and/or production company*. Excellent attention to detail. Technical competency in operating computers, and video production equipment, including, but not limited to video cameras, lighting, audio, and non-linear editing. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to learn new skills quickly and employ them. The ability to adapt to change and stay calm under pressure.*Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education will be considered.
