About Us

Since 1955, the VAB has helped promote over-the-air broadcasting in Vermont by protecting and assisting our member stations.  Our services include:

  • Regulatory Assistance and Advocacy

We stay in contact with our delegation in Washington and with the FCC to protect the interests of our member stations and the interests of the people of Vermont.

  • EEO and Jobs Assistance

We provide free employment listings and other EEO compliance resources to our members.  If you have a job opening, email Jim Condon at vab@vab.org.

  • ABIP subsidies

To help our members stay in compliance with FCC regulations, the VAB pays most of the costs of the Alternative Broadcast Inspection Program.  2012 saw Vermont have one of the highest ABIP participation rates in the nation.

  • EAS assistance

Alerting and informing the public in times of crisis is the most important responsibility of our member stations.  The VAB has helped our members upgrade their EAS receivers and comply with recent EAS changes.  We also continue to help in the process of updating the State of Vermont EAS Plan.

  • Scholarship programs

Thanks to the support of the National Guard NCSA (non-commercial sustaining announcement) program by our member stations, the VAB has been able to donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to scholarships for students in broadcasting and communications studies at area colleges.  Thank you to all of our NCSA stations!  Download the current spots below.

  • Sales seminars

The VAB  presents annual seminars to help our stations become more profitable.  Our recent agreement with P1 Selling will enable our stations to access sales, management and regulatory training 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

  • News updates

Our monthly e-newsletter, The VAB Voice, helps keep our members informed about the latest broadcasting news in Vermont.  We also send email bulletins as warranted.  If you’d like to receive The VAB Voice, please email Jim Condon at vab@vab.org.

  • Networking

The VAB presents annual get-togethers including the VAB Convention in the spring and the VAB Hall of Fame Awards Banquet in the fall.  These events give our members a chance to see old friends, make new ones, and have some fun!
