Thanks for attending the VAB’s 62nd Annual Convention

More than 160 broadcasters from around the region attended the VAB’s 62nd Annual Convention Wednesday, May 17 at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Montpelier.

Sales seminars with Kennen Williams drew large crowds and enthusiastic responses.  Jennifer Jose, VP of the NAB, moderated a social media panel featuring Sarah Spencer of Hall Communications and Audrey Ramsden of WCAX-TV.

The latest regulatory outlook was shared by Broadcast Law Blog author David Oxenford, and Joe Tymecki hosted a seminar on EAS.

Tymecki and Steve Cormier of the Radio Vermont Group were both elected to the VAB Board for two-year terms.  Longtime VAB president and board member Eric Michaels finished his current tenure on the board.  Wally Caswell of Great Eastern Broadcasting will serve as president, while Wendy Mays will serve as Vice-President.  Kelli Corbeil of WTSA is the new treasurer.  Outgoing president Alex Martin will continue on the board as immediate past-president.

A highlight of the event was an appearance by Vermont Governor Phil Scott.  He spoke to the crowd shortly after signing S.96, the reporters shield law that was supported by the VAB.  Thanks, Governor!
